Y13 Leavers Destinations 2024

All students who applied for a place at university got in!

This year we have seen a pleasing number of all students across the Partnership gain a place in an elite Russell Group institution and many more gaining a place at other highly regarded universities. We have seen students start their journey into a career in medicine and we had numerous students who have successfully moved on to higher apprenticeships and employment.

To view the destination universities for our 2024 leavers please click on any marker and the university information, with the courses our students are studying there, will be presented.

News:

Y13 Criminology & Law Wednesday 16th October 2024 – Nottingham Justice Museum

During the visit students took part in a mock trial, viewed different parts of the prison and met some colourful characters from the past.

In the afternoon, the students had to reinvent the Criminal Justice system. They prepared a Dragon Den's style presentation as to how future prisoners might be better delt with!

Criminology Monday 23rd September 2024 – Crime Scene Investigation

If doing criminology wasn’t exciting enough, on Monday 23rd September students walked into the King Edward VI library to find there had been a murder...dun dun duuuun!!!! The area had become a crime scene and they needed to suit up and collect the evidence to solve this murder.

Students got to experience first-hand what being a detective at a crime scene is like. They dressed up head to toe in 'all the gear’, including a mask, gloves, shoe covers and a white full body suit.

Mrs. Booth set the library up using 'Mavis' (the mannequin) as a victim. Students got to use methods they have learnt about in class to collect and preserve the evidence.

Please note no mannequins were hurt in the production of this crime scene!

Law Monday 23rd September 2024 – Mock Trial

As if the excitement of a murder in the library wasn't enough, later that day the Law students carried out a 'Mock Trial'.

The mock trial was all about a case of dangerous driving where a 15 year old schoolgirl was knocked off her bike as she rode home from school.  The defendant was convicted and banned form driving for 3 years and ordered to pay compensation to the victim.

There was some excellent advocacy by the lawyers and some dramatic performances by our witnesses!
